Australian cyclist Ben O'Connor finished third, strengthening his overall lead by outsprinting Mikel Landa and Florian Lipowitz to the line. O'Connor's performance earned him four bonus seconds, further extending his advantage over Primoz Roglic by three minutes 53 seconds. Carapaz's efforts saw him move up to third place overall.
