Nacer Zorgani, widely recognized for his baritone voice as a boxing announcer at the Paris Games, is gearing up for a new challenge: competing in Para-judo at the Paralympic Games. The 38-year-old will take part in the men's 90-kilogram, J2 classification for visually impaired athletes.
Judo is more than just a sport for Zorgani; it represents his lifelong commitment to the philosophy of bushido, focusing on resilience, discipline, and balance. Diagnosed with progressive retina deterioration at 17, Zorgani found solace and purpose in combat sports, particularly judo.
This marks his first appearance at the Paralympic Games, where he is part of the 237-strong French delegation. Unfazed by the competition, Zorgani views it as a test of his physical and mental limits, driven by a determination to prove that his journey is far from over.
