Jay Shah, currently the BCCI Secretary, stands as a frontrunner for the ICC Chairman position, with significant backing from 15 out of 16 ICC Board members. However, his potential move raises questions about his successor at the BCCI.

The ICC Chairman's role will change hands on December 1, with nominations closing on August 27. Shah, amidst his second term as BCCI secretary, will begin a mandatory three-year cooling-off period after his term ends in October 2025.

Possible successors include BCCI vice-president and Congress MP Rajiv Shukla, Maharashtra BJP heavyweight and BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal, and joint secretary Devajit 'Lon' Saikia. The BCCI may also consider younger administrators like DDCA president Rohan Jaitley and former CAB president Avishek Dalmiya.
