During his two-day visit to Poland, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the country's efforts in popularizing the sport of Kabaddi throughout Europe. Meeting with Michal Spiczko, President of the Kabaddi Federation of Poland, and Board Member Anna Kalbarczyk, Modi expressed his pride and admiration for their work.

Kalbarczyk noted that Modi was pleased with Poland's achievements in Kabaddi, lauding them for not only introducing the sport but also its underlying philosophy to diverse age groups. Modi praised their dedication which, according to an official release, has significantly advanced Kabaddi in Europe.

In his address to the Indian community in Warsaw, Modi emphasized the connection between India and Poland through Kabaddi, highlighting Poland's two consecutive European championship titles. He extended best wishes for the upcoming Kabaddi championship in August, marking Poland's first time hosting the event.

The Poland men's national team marked a significant milestone by defeating then-World Champions Iran in a 2016 World Cup match. Notably, Polish players Michal Spiczko and Piotr Pamulak have also made their mark in India's Pro Kabaddi League, playing for Bengaluru Bulls.
