Tamil Nadu's Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development, Udhayanidhi Stalin, officially inaugurated the newly renovated football pitch at JLNS B Ground today. This enhancement is a collaborative project involving the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and Chennaiyin FC (CFC), according to a release.

During the ceremony, Vita Dani, co-owner of Chennaiyin FC, presented Stalin with a special memento: CFC's first home jersey for the 2024-25 season. Afterward, the Minister met with Chennaiyin FC's head coach, Owen Coyle, interacted with players, explored the revamped pitch, and marked the inauguration by scoring a penalty shot. The team is preparing for the upcoming Indian Super League 2024-25 season, commencing on September 13, 2024.

Earlier this month, Chennaiyin FC signed 26-year-old defender Vignesh Dakshinamurthy on a four-year contract. Primarily a left-back who can also play midfield, Vignesh brings versatility and experience to the team. Coach Owen Coyle expressed excitement about the new signing, describing Vignesh as a talented young player and a great addition to the squad. Vignesh has previously played for Ozone FC and Mumbai City FC, and his achievements include winning two ISL Shields and one ISL Cup.

Vignesh's career spans stints at Ozone FC and Mumbai City FC, where he made over 60 appearances, including four in the AFC Champions League. He recently joined Hyderabad FC before a loan period at Odisha FC. He was also part of the Indian squad that finished runners-up in the 2018 SAFF Championship.
