India's Ronak Dahiya secured the bronze medal in the 110 kg Greco-Roman category at the ongoing U17 World Wrestling Championship. This marks India's first medal from the tournament.
Dahiya, ranked second globally in his age-group category, defeated Turkey's Emrullah Capkan 6-1 in the bronze medal play-off. Prior to this victory, Dahiya had been bested in the semi-final by Hungary's Zoltan Czako, who went on to win silver. Ukraine's Ivan Yankovskyi claimed gold in this category, overpowering Czako with a score of 13-4 due to technical superiority.
India has an opportunity for a second medal if Sainath Pardhi triumphs in the 51 kg repechage. Pardhi must first overcome Dominic Michael Munaretto of the United States. A win would advance him to the bronze medal play-off where he would face either Armenian Sargis Harutyunan or Georgia's Iuri Chapidze.
