In a significant diplomatic move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with his Singaporean counterpart, Lawrence Wong, on Thursday to elevate bilateral ties between India and Singapore to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Modi, who arrived in Singapore on a two-day visit at Wong's invitation, received a red-carpet welcome at the Singapore Parliament House. The Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal noted that the leaders reviewed various facets of the bilateral relationship, including advanced manufacturing, connectivity, digitalization, healthcare and medicine, skills development, and sustainability.

The visit also saw the exchange of four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) after the leaders' talks. Modi is set to meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and other senior ministers later in the day, along with interactions with Singaporean business leaders, particularly in the semiconductor sector.
