Bangladesh Announces Squad for Pakistan Test Series

Bangladesh has unveiled its squad for the upcoming two-test series in Pakistan, with a notable inclusion of five pacers. However, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will only be available for the second match, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Ahmed, who has been focusing on white-ball cricket and recovering from a shoulder injury, is set to play for Bangladesh A during their concurrent tour in Pakistan to regain his test match rhythm. Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain noted that Ahmed hasn't bowled in a test since June 2023, necessitating this preparatory stint.

Veteran wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim will also return to add to his 88 test caps, replacing Shahadat Hossain. Hossain highlighted the invaluable experience of seasoned players like Mushfiqur, Mominul Haque, and Shakib Al Hasan, who collectively boast 216 test matches. The squad will arrive in Pakistan early for practice sessions in Lahore, with the first test set to start in Rawalpindi on August 21.
