Kevin Durant has made history by becoming the leading scorer for U.S. Olympic basketball, overtaking the previous record held by Lisa Leslie. This milestone was reached during the Americans' quarterfinal game against Brazil on Tuesday.

Durant's key basket in the third quarter secured his place in the record books with 494 career points over four Olympic appearances. Leslie had held the record with 488 points and four gold medals. Aiming for a fourth gold, Durant stated, "Records are meant to be broken. Somebody will come along to do the same. I'm focused on trying to win this gold."

Durant is also notable for being the No. 8 scorer in NBA history, further underlining his enduring excellence in the sport. Besides scoring, he is now the U.S. career men's leader in Olympic rebounds, breaking records previously held by Carmelo Anthony and David Robinson.
