Following a resounding victory over Norway's Sunniva Hofstad, Indian boxer Lovlina Borgohain has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Paris 2024 Olympics. Her father, Tiken Borgohain, expressed strong confidence in her future performance, urging her to give her best in the upcoming rounds.

Lovlina secured a dominant 5-0 win in the women's 75 kg round of 16, marking a significant step in her first Olympic tournament at this weight. Tiken praised her win but emphasized the increasing difficulty ahead. "She will try her best and give 100% in the Olympics," he remarked.

Facing a tough opponent ahead, Borgohain will next go up against Li Qian of China, who beat her for the Asian Games gold last year. Their much-anticipated quarterfinal match is set for Sunday, August 4, at 3:02 PM IST.

Meanwhile, other Indian boxers faced setbacks. Jasmine Lamboria was knocked out by the Philippines' Nesthy Petecio in the women's 57 kg category, losing 0-5. Amit Panghal exited after a 1-4 split decision loss to Zambia's Patrick Chinyemba in the men's 51 kg category, despite a promising start.
