Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the National Bank Open in Montreal, following his impressive victory over Rafael Nadal at the Paris Olympics. The 37-year-old tennis star, who has clinched a record 24 Grand Slam singles titles, defeated Nadal in straight sets at Roland Garros on Monday, securing a spot in the third round of the Summer Games.

The National Bank Open, an ATP Masters 1000 event, was slated to kick off on August 6. Despite plans to participate, the tournament organizers have announced Djokovic's withdrawal. 'While we're disappointed that Novak will be unable to take part in this year's tournament, we understand his decision and wish him the best at the Olympics and the remainder of his season,' said Valérie Tétreault, the tournament director.

Taking Djokovic's spot in the main draw is Roman Safiullin. Djokovic, though a decorated player with numerous accolades, has yet to clinch an Olympic gold medal.
