Spaniard Manolo Marquez, currently in charge of the Indian Super League side FC Goa, was appointed as the head coach of the Indian men's football team on Saturday, replacing the sacked Igor Stimac.

The All India Football Federation's (AIFF) executive committee appointed the 55-year-old Marquez to this role. Marquez will handle both his club and national responsibilities simultaneously during the 2024-25 season, transitioning to the national team full-time afterward.

His first major task will be leading India in the Tri-Nation tournament in Vietnam this October. Marquez brings a wealth of experience, including a prior successful stint with Hyderabad FC, and a deep connection to Indian football.
