Following her side's seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Women's Asia Cup opener, Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur lauded the team's ability to manage pressure effectively. India's title defense began on a high note, thanks to a well-rounded effort that saw them clinch the match at Dambulla on Friday.

During the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet said, "Our bowlers and openers set the tone. The first game is always a pressure game, but we handled it well. The entire unit performed admirably. Credit goes to Smriti and Shafali for their stellar start. We played fearless cricket today, and we're delighted with our performance. My knee is fine." Pakistan elected to bat first, but wickets fell steadily, with Sidra Ameen (25 in 35 balls with three fours), Tuba Hassan (22 in 19 balls with three fours), and Fatima Sana (22* in 16 balls with a four and two sixes) offering some resistance.

Deepti Sharma was India's top bowler, securing figures of 3/20, supported by Shreyanka Patil and Renuka Singh, both claiming 2/14. Pooja Vastrakar also picked up two crucial wickets. In the run chase, India got off to a solid start with an 85-run partnership between Shafali Varma (40 off 29 balls with six fours and a six) and Smriti Mandhana (45 off 31 balls with nine fours). Despite losing a few wickets along the way, India recovered to win the game with seven wickets and 35 balls remaining.
