Kasper Hjulmand Steps Down as Denmark National Team Manager

Kasper Hjulmand has stepped down from his role as Denmark national team manager after their winless Euro 2024 run, according to the Danish Football Association (DBU). The Danish team failed to win in seven consecutive major tournament matches, including the 2022 World Cup and the European Championship, scoring only three goals.

Denmark's lack of attacking prowess was blamed for their early exit in the European Championship following a 2-0 defeat by hosts Germany in the last 16. Hjulmand cited the need for new energy and requested the early termination of his contract, which was due to run for another year.

The DBU announced that Morten Wieghorst will step in as interim national coach until 2025.
