Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus has declared herself mentally stronger and better prepared than ever before as she sets her sights on defending her 200 and 400 metres freestyle titles at the upcoming Paris Olympics. Titmus, who clinched a golden double in Tokyo, feels she has grown significantly both as an athlete and a person over the past three years.

"I've learned so much from the last Olympic Games, and this time I believe I'm in a better position," Titmus announced from the team's training camp in Chartres. The 23-year-old swimmer aims to make history by becoming the first to win back-to-back golds in both her signature events.

Titmus faces fierce competition in the 400m race from Canadian sensation Summer McIntosh and American star Katie Ledecky. She entered the 200m freestyle as the favorite after breaking the world record at the Olympic trials, and she will also challenge for gold in the 800m freestyle, adding another layer of anticipation to her Olympic journey.
