The Volleyball Nations League (VNL) has emerged as one of the most-watched sports events of the year, organizers announced on Tuesday. The latest edition shattered records for attendance, viewership, and social media reach. The tournament, which showcases the world's top national teams, became the second-most-watched sports broadcast in China, with a peak viewership of 23.6 million and a cumulative audience of 268 million. Poland, hosting the men's final round, reported a cumulative audience of 46 million, while Thailand, hosting the women's final round, reached 38.4 million people.

The 2024 VNL experienced a 13% growth in attendance compared to 2023 and a 33% increase from 2022, totaling 751,000 attendees for the pool phases. The women's finals, where Italy triumphed over Japan, saw a 41% rise in attendance. The men's finals, in which France defeated Japan, recorded a 9% year-on-year growth.

The VNL also saw a significant expansion in its social media reach, accumulating 23.3 million total engagements and 127 million views on the Volleyball website since the tournament began in May.
