Tragic Aftermath: Fan Dies Following Violent Clashes at Tijuana Soccer Match

A 24-year-old fan who was shot outside a stadium in Tijuana, Mexico, after a league match between Chivas and Xolos, has died in the hospital, authorities confirmed.

Before the Mexican Apertura second round match ended on Friday, a brawl erupted between fans of both teams in the stands of the Caliente stadium in Tijuana. Several social media videos depict a man in a black Xolos shirt involved in the fight inside the stadium. Later, he appears in another image lying on the ground, bleeding in the parking lot.

The Prosecutor's Office of Baja California reported that the injured man was found at access 3 of the stadium, while the attacker had fled. The victim was shot in the back, arm, and head, and was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Liga MX condemned the violence and pledged cooperation with authorities. The Disciplinary Commission of the Mexican Soccer Federation also announced an investigation and potential fines for the club. This incident is part of a disturbing trend of violence in Liga MX, including the January death of a Monterrey fan and the March clash between Querétaro and Atlas fans.

The second-round Apertura tournament match concluded with a 4-2 victory for Xolos over Chivas.
