France Rugby Team Shuffled Amid Player Arrests and Racist Comment Controversy
France's rugby team is undergoing significant changes for their second test against Argentina due to the arrest of two players and the suspension of another for a racist remark. Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou are being replaced, and Judicael Cancoriet and Mickael Guillard are stepping into key positions.
France has been forced into two changes to their starting team for the second test against Argentina following the arrest of two players accused of sexual assault and the sending home of experienced back Melvyn Jaminet for a racist comment. Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou were taken into custody on Monday, just a week after both made their debuts in the team's 28-13 victory in Mendoza.
Their lawyer has stated that they deny the accusations. Jegou is being replaced by Judicael Cancoriet, set to play his first game for France in six years. Cancoriet had been scheduled to play in the initial test but was sidelined due to illness.
Mickael Guillard, who debuted off the bench last weekend, will substitute for Auradou in the second row. Additionally, the team's replacements include four uncapped players: 31-year-old Romain Briatte, fellow loose forward Killian Tixeront, 20-year-old scrumhalf Baptiste Jauneau, and flyhalf Leo Berdu. Jaminet was suspended and sent home after a video showing him making a racist comment surfaced on social media.
