Hyundai's Ott Tanak crashed out of Rally Finland on Friday, with team officials confirming that co-driver Martin Jarveoja would remain in hospital overnight for observation.

After going off the road on stage three, the Estonian duo extracted themselves from the car unassisted. They received immediate medical attention at the scene before Jarveoja was transferred to a hospital. Hyundai reported the car left the road at speed in wet and slippery conditions, rolled, and collided with a tree.

The incident resulted in the crew being ruled out for the rest of the weekend. Tanak, who started the event second in the championship standings, trailed Belgian teammate Thierry Neuville by eight points. As of the first stage's conclusion, Finland's Kalle Rovanpera led Elfyn Evans by eight seconds, with Sebastien Ogier 0.6 seconds behind Evans, all in Toyotas.
