Mission Olympic Cell Approves Key Proposals to Equip Athletes for Paris 2024

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports' Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has green-lighted numerous proposals to support athletes and para-athletes with essential equipment for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports' Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) has sanctioned several proposals to aid athletes and para-athletes with necessary equipment as they gear up for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The decisions were made at a meeting on Thursday.

Notably, Paralympic Table Tennis medallist Bhavina Patel's proposal for support to compete in the ITTF Para Table Tennis Asia Training Camp in Thailand from July 16 to 20, along with her coach and escort, was approved. Additionally, requests from para-shooters Manish Narwal, Rudranksh Khandelwal, Rubina Francis, and Sriharsha R Devareddy for various sport shooting equipment, such as an air rifle for Sriharsha and Morini pistol for Rubina, received the green light. Para-athlete Sandeep Choudhary will also get two new javelins.

The MOC gave a nod to financial assistance for procuring archery equipment for Ankita Bhakat, Deepika Kumari, para-archers Sheetal Devi, and Rakesh Kumar. Judoka Tulika Maan, along with her coach, will train at the Valencia Judo High-Performance Centre in Spain until July 25. Table Tennis player Manush Shah's request for financial support for training in Gyeonggi Do, South Korea, under Korean coach Taejun Kim and for procuring physical fitness equipment was also approved.

The meeting also saw the inclusion of athletes Suraj Panwar, Vikash Singh, and Ankita Dhyani, and swimmer Dhinidhi Desinghu in the TOPS Core Group. Moreover, athletes Jeswin Aldrin, Praveen Chithravel, Akashdeep Singh, and Paramjeet Singh were promoted from the TOPS Development Group to the Core Group.
