Delhi Traffic Police has recorded a significant increase in challans for drunk driving, with figures surpassing 18,000 by September 15, marking the highest tally in over three years, according to recent data.
The data reveals that a total of 18,478 challans were issued this year alone, compared to 16,235 in 2023 and 2,320 in 2022. The west district topped the list with 1,973 challans, while Shahdara reported the least with 540.
Authorities emphasize the importance of adhering to traffic rules, particularly abstaining from drunk driving, which poses substantial risks to drivers and other road users.
