In a bid to modernize emergency response infrastructure, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has unveiled ambitious plans to transform the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) headquarters into a state-of-the-art facility. The upcoming budget for fiscal year 2025-26 has earmarked Rs 125 crore specifically for capital projects under DFS, a move anticipated to bolster firefighting capabilities.

Among the key initiatives outlined, the government is set to introduce two-wheelers as first-response vehicles, especially in densely populated areas, alongside deploying smaller fire engines across 100 strategic locations. This strategic allocation of resources is aimed at significantly reducing response times during emergencies.

The budget further earmarks Rs 110 crore for modernizing fire services, including the acquisition of 17 water bowsers, multi-articulated fire towers, and aerial ladder platforms. Moreover, a consultant will be brought on board to enhance the DFS control room with AI-based dispatch solutions, streamlining the fire safety certificate process and ensuring real-time monitoring through live cameras.
