Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced plans to extend the under-construction Coastal Road from Mumbai's Nariman Point to Virar in Palghar district, enhancing connectivity within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Fadnavis highlighted that the extension, backed by a generous Rs 54,000 crore contribution from the Japanese government, will slash travel time between Nariman Point and Virar to just 35 to 40 minutes.
The 29.2-km expressway, with its 8-lane design, aims to streamline travel from Marine Lines in the south to Kandivali in the north, marking a significant milestone in Mumbai's urban development.
