Valencia Seeks Copa del Rey Postponement Amid Severe Floods
Valencia has requested the postponement of a Copa del Rey match against Parla Escuela due to severe flooding in southeast Spain. The regional weather agency issued a red alert following deadly storms, prompting the club to prioritize safety and cancel non-essential travel plans ahead of the match.
Valencia has appealed to Spain's football federation to delay their upcoming Copa del Rey fixture against Parla Escuela. The request follows devastating floods in the southeast, which have claimed several lives and resulted in a travel advisory from authorities.
On Tuesday, the Spanish weather agency AEMET declared a red alert for the eastern Valencia region, with raging storm Dana leading to widespread flooding. Firefighters have been working tirelessly to rescue individuals trapped in the rising waters.
The LaLiga club, currently at the bottom of the league standings, believes postponement is warranted given the serious impact of the storm. They remain scheduled to host Real Madrid in a league match on Saturday.
