Heavy rains lashed parts of Kerala on Friday, disrupting normal life by causing waterlogging of roads and traffic jams. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert in five districts, warning of very heavy rainfall.

The orange alert applies to Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been announced for seven other districts, indicating heavy rainfall.

IMD forecasts include thunderstorms with heavy rain and gusty winds in Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam, while Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha may experience thunderstorms with moderate rainfall and gusty winds.
