The construction of the modern Patna Collectorate complex is nearing its grand opening, slated to take place shortly after Chhath Puja this November, officials have announced.

The new complex, featuring three high-rise buildings with parking facilities, is built on the site of historic structures from Dutch and British eras. While these old buildings faced demolition in 2022 despite international appeals and legal interventions, eight Tuscan pillars from the Dutch-era record room have been preserved and will grace the new complex.

Set on a 10-acre plot along the Ganga, the main building houses 'G+5' storeys, hosting the district magistrate on the top floor, with additional blocks for local administrative offices. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who has inspected the site, is expected to inaugurate it. The adjacent Collectorate Ghat, traditionally used during Chhath, will gain improved access for visitors.
