The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Saturday that a cyclonic circulation has emerged over the Andaman Sea, expected to develop into a low-pressure area by October 21. This system, once formed, may influence the coastal regions of north Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh next week.
According to IMD's evening bulletin, the cyclonic circulation is currently positioned over central Andaman Sea. It is anticipated to move northwestwards, potentially intensifying into a depression around October 23. Although some international models predict the formation of a cyclone, IMD Director General Mrutyunjaya Mohapatra stated that a clear understanding will develop after the low-pressure formation on October 21.
Mohapatra noted the rough sea conditions expected from October 22 to 25 along the coast. Fishermen are advised to return to shore by October 21. Coastal Odisha is projected to experience significant rainfall between October 23 and 25, with thunderstorms possible in isolated areas on Sunday.
