The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has given the green light to DISCOMs for issuing new electricity connections to four specific areas, including urbanized villages and colonies regularized by the MCD, without requiring additional references to the authority, Raj Niwas officials announced on Tuesday.

This decision follows directives from Delhi LG VK Saxena, who acted upon representations from all Delhi MPs, certain MLAs, and several resident welfare associations. According to the officials, DDA will allow DISCOMs to proceed with connections on lands where a government NoC has previously been issued or where development plans have been approved.

The 2023 order exempted certain areas within the land pooling zones, including Lal Dora, extended Lal Dora, and PM-UDAY colonies, from the prohibition of new connections. Areas with prior government sanctions or approvals, such as colonies regularized before the 2018 land pooling Regulations or land allotted under the 20-point program, also qualify for new connections.
