The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has upgraded its alert for Mumbai to a red status, effective until 8.30 am on Thursday, due to impending extreme weather.
Several flights at Mumbai airport were either diverted or had to make a go-around due to the inclement weather. Significant water-logging has been reported in areas such as Kurla, Mulund, and Chembur, with road traffic moving at a snail's pace.
