India has committed to strengthening its collaboration with Denmark in the water sector, Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil announced following a meeting with Danish Minister for Industry, Business, and Financial Affairs Morten Bodskov.

The meeting concentrated on developing innovative water management solutions, with both nations pledging to enhance their cooperation.

''We discussed the establishment of a Centre of Excellence to foster innovation in smart water resource management,'' Paatil shared in a post-meeting update.

The proposed Centre aims to drive advancements in water technology and efficient resource management strategies.

Additionally, the ministers deliberated on creating a Clean Rivers Laboratory in Varanasi, modeled after the Smart City Lab in Panaji, Goa.

Paatil stated that this laboratory would become a focal point for research and innovation dedicated to restoring and sustaining the health of India's rivers, a vital component of the country's environmental sustainability initiatives.
