Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver substantial housing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). On September 17, Modi will distribute sanction letters to approximately 10 lakh beneficiaries in Odisha, allocating Rs 3,180 crore as their first instalments, announced Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

The prime minister will also introduce the 'Awas Plus 24' app, aimed at streamlining the allocation of pucca houses to eligible beneficiaries. For the fiscal year, Odisha has targeted 22,572 houses with Rs 41.32 crore already released. Additionally, Modi will provide sanction letters to around 20,000 beneficiaries in Jharkhand on September 15, transferring over Rs 5 crore directly into their bank accounts. In Gujarat, on September 16, another Rs 93 crore will be allocated to 31,000 PMAY beneficiaries.

Under the PMAY-G, the government aims to provide 2.95 crore pucca houses to rural families by 2024, in collaboration with other welfare schemes. The program also integrates wage benefits, sanitation facilities, and future provisions for solar rooftops under various national schemes.
