Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday highlighted the escalating human-wildlife conflict caused by the reduction of forest areas, during an event at Lok Bhavan where appointment letters were distributed to 647 forest guards and 41 junior engineers.

Adityanath pointed out that forest fires and environmental damage lead to disasters, affecting both wildlife and humans. The ongoing 'Operation Bhediya' campaign in Bahraich's Mahasi tehsil, which targets a pack of wolves responsible for recent human casualties, underscores this critical issue.

Emphasizing preventative measures, Adityanath called for electric and solar fencing in border areas and trained protectors. He also praised Uttar Pradesh's pioneering step to categorize human-wildlife conflict as a disaster, ensuring a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for victims' families.
