Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar announced on Monday the launch of a revolutionary online building plan approval process for construction projects within the BBMP limits. This initiative, known as the 'Nambike Nakshe' scheme, allows property owners to obtain a provisional building plan approved by an authorized architect or engineer, and then upload it online for final approval by the BBMP.
Addressing a press conference at Vidhana Soudha, Shivakumar noted that this new system aims to make the approval process more streamlined and efficient, particularly for sites up to 4000 square feet or 50x80 feet in dimension, allowing construction activities to commence earlier. The scheme has already been piloted in two zones and is now being extended across the BBMP limits.
In addition to the 'Nambike Nakshe' scheme, Shivakumar highlighted progress in other civic issues such as pothole repairs and flood prevention, allocating significant funds for infrastructure improvements. He also announced a cleanliness campaign to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's presidency of the AICC, with 1,000 students participating online. Despite ongoing protests by BBMP contractors demanding the release of payments, Shivakumar assured that measures are being taken to address their concerns within legal boundaries.
