National Clean Air Programme Projected Emissions Rise

A recent study by CSTEP reveals that local emissions in most NCAP cities are expected to rise by at least 11% by 2030 compared to 2019 levels. Only 8 out of 76 surveyed cities are on track to achieve a 40% reduction in key pollutants. Targeted interventions are recommended.

A recent study from the Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP) suggests a problematic rise in local emissions across most cities under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) by 2030.

The research, which spanned over 2.5 years and covered 76 out of 131 NCAP cities, indicates that emissions will increase by 11 to 45 percent from 2019 levels.

Despite NCAP's goal to reduce emissions by 40 percent, the study revealed that only eight cities are on track to meet this target. In response, the study recommends targeted measures focusing on major emission sources like industries, transportation, and construction.
