Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms Forecast in Andhra Pradesh

The India Meteorological Department predicts significant rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of Andhra Pradesh from August 19 to 23. Areas like North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are particularly at risk. Strong winds may also occur in isolated regions during this period, with cyclonic circulation contributing to these conditions.

The India Meteorological Department on Monday forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of Andhra Pradesh for five days from August 19 to 23.

Heavy rains are expected on Monday and Tuesday in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, and Rayalaseema.

The department also predicted thunderstorms with lightning in NCAP and Yanam from Monday to Friday.

Areas across the state might experience strong surface winds up to 40 km per hour during these days.

The Met Department reported that Sunday's cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka has now moved to Rayalaseema and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.

The department added that a trough extends from the cyclonic circulation in Rayalaseema to the Comorin region across Tamil Nadu, influencing the weather patterns up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.
