The India Meteorological Department on Monday forecast heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of Andhra Pradesh for five days from August 19 to 23.

Heavy rains are expected on Monday and Tuesday in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, and Rayalaseema.

The department also predicted thunderstorms with lightning in NCAP and Yanam from Monday to Friday.

Areas across the state might experience strong surface winds up to 40 km per hour during these days.

The Met Department reported that Sunday's cyclonic circulation over North Interior Karnataka has now moved to Rayalaseema and extends up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.

The department added that a trough extends from the cyclonic circulation in Rayalaseema to the Comorin region across Tamil Nadu, influencing the weather patterns up to 0.9 km above mean sea level.
