Heavy rain in the national capital on Sunday led to significant traffic snarls as Delhiites reported 47 incidents of waterlogging across the city.

Safdarjung, the city's primary weather station, recorded 26.3 mm of rain, while other areas reported between 20.4 mm to 55.5 mm, according to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data.

Today, the city was on 'orange' alert, indicating readiness for extremely bad weather and potential transport disruptions.

Central, south, southwest, and east Delhi received heavy rainfall. The weather department has predicted more showers in the Delhi-NCR areas towards the day's end.

A PWD official said they received 40 calls regarding waterlogging and three about fallen trees, resolving most waterlogging complaints.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi received 12 complaints between 6 am and 2 pm at the Central Control Room.

The Delhi Traffic Police reported traffic disruptions due to waterlogging at various locations, advising citizens to avoid affected stretches.

The IMD has issued an advisory urging Delhiites to stay indoors and secure windows and doors to reduce risk.

Sunday recorded a low of 26 degrees Celsius while the maximum temperature was three notches below normal at 31 degrees Celsius. The weather department predicts more rain on Monday.
