The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday forecast heavy rainfall across Odisha in the next four days, with significant precipitation expected due to a low-pressure area over south Odisha and its neighborhood.

According to a bulletin from IMD's Bhubaneswar centre, districts such as Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Koraput are likely to experience heavy downpours on Wednesday. On Thursday, heavy rains are anticipated in Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Puri, and other districts.

In preparation for potential flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) of Odisha has instructed all district collectors to keep the administrative machinery ready, decongest drains, and deploy pumps as necessary. Notably, Odisha received 272.6 mm of cumulative rainfall from June 1 till Tuesday, with disparities observed across various districts.
