Actress Minu Muneer has levelled sexual abuse allegations against actor-turned-MLA M Mukesh, Jayasoorya, Maniyanpilla Raju, and Idavela Babu. In response, another well-known actress accused a noted filmmaker of misconduct from years ago. Minu Muneer detailed her allegations in a Facebook post, further highlighting the toxic work environment in the industry.

The case against Mukesh, who represents the Kollam constituency, has particularly embarrassed the state government. Opposition parties accuse the Left government of shielding predators, despite the formation of a special investigation team. Meanwhile, actor Maniyanpilla Raju has called for a thorough investigation into the industry's systemic issues. Amid mounting pressure, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced a seven-member special team to probe the atrocities faced by women actors.
