The Public Works Department (PWD) is set to initiate regular inspections aimed at curbing misuse of government residential accommodations. The department has mandated its officials to carry out frequent checks to ensure that residents do not engage in subletting or erect unauthorized structures.

According to a memorandum issued on July 16, the PWD has received multiple complaints concerning unauthorized constructions around the Delhi Administration flats. These illegal structures have been causing significant inconvenience to other residents. The directive emphasized that Executive Engineers, who also serve as estate officers, are responsible for monitoring and addressing these issues within their jurisdiction.

Executive Engineers are instructed to identify and eliminate any unauthorized constructions in their respective areas immediately. The memorandum clearly states that the cost of such demolition will be billed to the Allotment Branch for recovery from the offending allottee. The order further instructs allottees to remove any unauthorized buildings or fixtures or face mandatory demolition and subsequent cost recovery.
