Uttar Pradesh Floods: 1,500 Villages Affected, Five Lives Lost in 24 Hours

Nearly 1,500 villages in 22 districts of Uttar Pradesh have been severely affected by floods, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives in the last 24 hours, as reported by the state relief commissioner's office on Sunday.

Among the casualties, two individuals drowned in Pratapgarh, while Raebareli, Siddharth Nagar, and Banda each reported one death. Causes of death included drowning and snake bites.

Relief Commissioner GS Naveen highlighted the rising water levels in major rivers such as Ramganga, Rapti, Ghaghra, Budhi Rapti, Rohin, and Kuano, all of which are currently above danger levels, affecting multiple districts including Lakhimpur Kheri, Balrampur, and Kushinagar.
