Rescuers in Nepal on Sunday discovered the body of a person who had gone missing after two buses were swept into the swollen Trishuli River by a devastating mudslide in Chitwan district last week, police reported. This brings the death toll to five, including one Indian national.

The discovery was made in Gaindakot-7, amidst ongoing efforts to locate passengers from the two buses which had 65 people onboard, including 7 Indians. The landslide occurred in the Simaltal area along the Narayanghat-Mugling road in Chitwan district.

Police said Rishi Pal Shahi from Bihar, identified from an Indian ID found on him, was the first to be recovered. The search, involving over 500 security personnel and the use of advanced equipment like drone cameras and sonar, is still active as officials strive to find the remaining missing individuals.
