Amid growing concerns, Karnataka's political landscape is shaken by allegations of phone tapping. R Ashoka, Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, has accused the Congress-led government of illegally monitoring telephone communications of key state leaders, including ministers and ruling party MLAs, amidst what he described as a 'honey trap' controversy.
According to Ashoka, several legislators from the ruling party have confirmed these claims, alleging the government's attempts to control political adversaries. He insists phone tapping is a deliberate strategy employed to monitor activities, with support from other prominent leaders.
State Home Minister G Parameshwara responded that no formal complaints have been received regarding the issue. He reiterated that surveillance activities require valid justification and government sanction, adding that an investigation would commence if an official complaint is lodged.
