On Monday, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took a strong stance against the NDA coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, accusing it of neglecting the pressing needs of farmers affected by unseasonal rains.
Reddy, who surveyed damaged banana crops in Kadapa's Thatireddypalli village, emphasized the distress farmers are currently facing, criticizing the government for their lack of concern. He pointed out the abandoned cold storage facility initiated by the erstwhile YSCRP regime, worth Rs 25 crore, which remains inoperative under the current government.
Promising further action, Reddy urged for immediate compensation and relief and assured that, once the YSCRP returns to power, pending amounts would be credited to the farmers' accounts. He highlighted the necessity for input subsidies and insurance for the damaged 4,000 acres of crops.
