The political atmosphere in Delhi is heating up as Assembly elections approach, with a fierce debate over the settlement of Rohingya immigrants. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has publicly demanded the arrest of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, alleging that he possesses data showing where the immigrants have been settled.
In a sharp retort, Puri accused Kejriwal of compromising national security by ostensibly supporting Rohingya infiltrators. He denied that any such immigrants have been provided economically weaker section flats, as Kejriwal suggested, and labeled any claims otherwise as blatant falsehoods.
The issue centers around accusations that the AAP uses immigrant settlers as a vote bank, a claim they vehemently deny while countering that the BJP is attempting to disenfranchise their supporters across various constituencies. Meanwhile, the Delhi Police, under orders from the Lieutenant Governor, has started identifying and deporting illegal immigrants, adding to the escalating tension.
