The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa has accused the wife of Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant of filing a defamation suit against Sanjay Singh as a strategy to divert him from the Delhi assembly election campaign.
The suit, which seeks Rs 100 crore in damages, claims Singh defamed Sulakshana Sawant by implicating her in a cash-for-jobs scandal. AAP contends this legal action is intended to consume Singh's time, preventing him from effectively campaigning for the upcoming elections in Delhi, expected by late January or early February.
AAP's Goa unit general secretary, Walmiki Naik, stated that Singh's need to attend court proceedings in Goa is a deliberate ploy to distract him. He further accused the ruling BJP of using these tactics amid a triangular political battle involving AAP, BJP, and Congress in Delhi.
