Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy criticized the Congress party, accusing it of politicizing the death of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He alleged that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have previously insulted Singh, reflecting a lack of genuine respect for their own party leader.
Reddy highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensured Singh's state funeral was conducted with the highest honors, alongside the announcement of a memorial in his name. The minister also noted historical instances where Congress failed to support its prominent leaders, citing P V Narasimha Rao and Pranab Mukherjee as examples.
Recalling an incident where Rahul Gandhi had openly criticized an ordinance initiated by Singh's government, Reddy noted the irony of Rahul leaving for Vietnam during a national mourning period. The BJP has called for the Congress party to cease political maneuvering and respect Singh's legacy appropriately.
