A groundbreaking discovery in Oxfordshire has unveiled hundreds of dinosaur footprints dating back to the middle Jurassic era. Researchers from the Universities of Oxford and Birmingham found these ancient tracks at Dewars Farm Quarry, revealing the movement patterns of dinosaurs, including the formidable nine-meter predator Megalosaurus.

The excavation uncovered five extensive trackways, with four belonging to massive herbivorous sauropods, likely the Cetiosaurus, a large dinosaur related to the Diplodocus. The fifth trackway was attributed to the carnivorous Megalosaurus, noted for its distinctive three-toed feet.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the find is the point where tracks from the carnivorous and herbivorous dinosaurs intersect, prompting questions about their interaction. This discovery offers fresh insights into these ancient creatures' behaviors and habitats, underscoring the enduring allure of dinosaur science since Megalosaurus was first described in 1824.
