In a letter addressed to the Election Commission, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has highlighted concerns over campaign fairness following a delay in party leader Rahul Gandhi's chopper due to no-fly restrictions in the vicinity. Ramesh emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaign should not automatically take precedence over others.
The letter calls upon the EC to maintain a level-playing field, pointing out that Member of Parliament and Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, had all necessary permissions to travel for Congress rallies in Jharkhand. Changes to his approved schedule and travel permissions have affected subsequent events.
Ramesh stated that the delay, caused by prioritizing other leaders' protocols, resulted in disruptions to Gandhi's campaign activities. He expressed concerns about the ruling regime potentially leveraging such protocols to disadvantage opposition campaigns, urging the EC for immediate intervention.
