Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to embark on a pivotal three-day visit to Laos next week. The visit, scheduled from November 20 to 22, will see Singh participate in a significant meeting of the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM-Plus), which comprises the 10-member ASEAN group and its eight dialogue partners.
The agenda at ADMM-Plus is expected to address evolving security scenarios in the region, with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific situation and combating terrorism threats. Rajnath Singh is anticipated to present India's strategic stance on these critical issues.
During his trip, Singh is also poised to engage in bilateral discussions with defence ministers from various participating countries. Laos will host this vital assembly as the current chair of ADMM-Plus, continuing its commitment to fostering regional security collaboration, a mission that has been underway since India's designation as a dialogue partner of ASEAN in 1992 and the first ADMM-Plus in 2010.
