The Indian Army, in a collaborative effort with the Assam Amateur Boxing Association, organized the Tinsukia Boxing Tournament from March 11-12 under the banner of Operation Sadbhavana. This initiative served as an ideal platform for young boxers from Tinsukia and Dibrugarh, nurturing emerging sportsmanship while spotlighting local talent.

Participants competed vigorously across three age groups ranging from 12 to 17 years in 10 different weight categories, with youthful contenders showcasing impressive skills. As an official statement from the army highlighted, victors, runners-up, and all other participants were duly recognized and rewarded for their commitment and competitive spirit. The tournament, drawing considerable interest from local youth, sports enthusiasts, and media personnel, further fortified the Indian Army's bond with the local community.

Looking ahead, the Indian Army expressed its determination to continue such engagements to support talent development and community interaction, emphasizing its role in empowering the youth, advocating fitness, and contributing to nation-building. Earlier, on March 9, the Indian Army's Gajraj Corps hosted a significant ex-servicemen rally in Tamulpur, Assam. The rally's motto, "Bhootpurv Sainik, Abhootpurv Yogdaan, Aapko Saadar Pranaam," underscored the army's commitment to honoring and supporting its veterans who have served with distinction.

Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, AVSM, YSM, commanding the Gajraj Corps, extended his gratitude towards the ex-servicemen for their national service, acknowledging their sacrifices and reaffirming continuous support towards their welfare. The event featured the honoring of Veer Naris, Veer Matas, and war veterans, coupled with the distribution of motorized scooters and wheelchairs to disabled ex-servicemen and their dependents. The rally saw robust participation, attracting over 4,800 ex-servicemen and their families from across Lower Assam.
